English 123 Poetry Explication September 12, 2012 Maya Angelo, born Marguerite Johnson, on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri Angelou is a renowned poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist. cost most of her difficult childhood years moving subscribe and forth to her mothers and grandmothers home, Maya faced racial discrimination while with her grandmother.
